  • You will need to fill out a passport application, which is available at the District Court office and online through the Department of State. You will also need to bring one passport photo, your original certified birth certificate, your previous passport (if applicable), photo ID, and two checks or money orders. Apply in person at the District Court Office at 510 Pearl Street in Wayne. Minors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by both parents. Please plan to arrive by 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday (open at 8:30 am).

  • All motor vehicles and trailers, including travel trailers, mobile homes and fold-down camping trailers must be titled. Motorboats manufactured after November 1, 1972 must also be titled. Farm trailers for non-commercial use or with a gross weight of 9,000 pounds or less are not required to be titled. Contact the Wayne County Treasurer at (402) 375-3885 for more information.

  • Give the dealer at least 10 working days to send the paperwork before you contact us. If we have not received the title documents, you may have to contact your dealer. The Treasurer’s Office will not contact you when your paperwork is received. You have 30 days in which to title, register and license a vehicle after purchase; however, please check with the Treasurer’s Office to correct any possible problems with the paperwork before that time period has expired.   • Yes, a duplicate title can be issued in any county in Nebraska. All persons whose names appear on the face of the title must sign a completed duplicate title application. The exception to this is a lienholder, or a title held by husband and wife. All signatures must be notarized if signed outside of the Treasurer's Office. The fee for a duplicate title is $14.   • Nebraska titles are filed electronically. Lien release will depend on the lien holder. You should generally receive your title in the mail from your lien holder or the Nebraska DMV once the lien is released.

  • Yes, the County Sheriff’s office must inspect each out-of-state vehicle. There is a $10 fee for each inspection. Vehicles that must be inspected include any vehicle or motorcycle with an out-of-state title, any vehicle with a Salvage Certificate of Title, dump trucks, grain trailers, assembled trailers, livestock trailers & truck tractors that are not pro-rated, semi-trailers, boat trailers if pulled by a truck or a non-pro-rated tractor.

  • We will need the original title, a signed copy of the security agreement or loan document between buyer and lienholder (with the vehicle’s description and VIN number), and the $7 fee.

  • Contact the Wayne County Treasurer at (402) 375-3885. We will need the name, address and fax number of your lienholder, the VIN of your vehicle, and your account number with the lienholder. We will notify the lienholder and request your title be sent directly to the Treasurer’s Office. Only the original title is acceptable. After this request, allow at least two weeks before calling the Treasurer’s Office to inquire if your title has arrived. Once we have received the original title, an inspection is required and the title with the lien attached will be issued. The new Nebraska title will be filed electronically. A $17 fee will be assessed.

  • If you purchased a vehicle with a salvage title, whether out-of-state or a Nebraska title, a vehicle inspection by the County Sheriff is required. A Nebraska salvage title will be issued to the new owner, and after the Sheriff’s inspection is performed, a previously salvaged title must be issued.

  • The Homestead Exemption provides qualified homeowners with a measure of property tax relief. Homestead Exemption is available to three groups of people: •Group A: People Over Age 65 •Group B: Certain Disabled Individuals •Group C: Certain Disabled Veterans and Their Widow(er)s Homestead Exemption application and income statement forms are available in the County Assessor’s Office after February 1, and are due on or before June 30 each year.

  • A new form has been created (Report of Destroyed Real Property, Form 425), pursuant to 2019 Neb. Law LB 512. Please review the instructions on the Form 425.

    The Form 425 is to be used by owners of real property whose property has suffered significant property damage as a result of a calamity occurring on or after January 1 and before July 1 of the  current assessment year. The property owner may file the Form 425 with the county assessor and the county clerk on or before July 15.

    A calamity is defined as a disastrous event, including, but not limited to, a fire, an earthquake, a flood, a tornado, or other natural event which significantly affects the assessed value of the property. Destroyed real property does not include property suffering significant property damage that is caused by the owner of the property.

  • A form has been created (Report of Damaged Real Property, Form 425), pursuant to Neb. Rev. Stat. § 77-1301. Please review the instructions on the Form 425.

    The Form 425 is to be used by owners of real property whose property has suffered significant property damage occurring on or after January 1 and before July 1 of the  current assessment year. The property owner may file the Form 425 with the county assessor and the county clerk on or before July 15.

    Definitions.Damaged real property means real property that suffered significant property damage occurring on or after January 1 and before July 1 of the current assessment year. Damaged real property does not include significant property damage caused by the property owner. Significant property damage means –

    1. Damage to an improvement exceeding 20% of the improvement’s assessed value; or

    2. Damage to the land exceeding 20% of a parcel’s assessed land value in the current tax year.
